Building a 20-email course in 3 weeks.
Every side project covered in this backstory so far was a side project because I was still gainfully employed at Salesforce. I was 27, no kids, excessive amounts of energy… I could easily manage a full time gig and work early mornings and late nights on projects.
In April 2021, I decided to leave Salesforce to work on Big Later full-time. And then I took on like a bunch of other little projects and stretched myself pretty thin and eventually realized I really needed to focus on Big Later if I didn’t want to run out of savings. But in the middle of that, after the experience with On Deck, I built Master the Email-Based Course in about 3 weeks.
I made a very quick $10k. But the business model was way too complicated. I was offering 3 versions of the course, a paid community, 1:1 consulting… it was just too much too fast. The course was making money, but with my 300 followers on Twitter, I was going to run out of potential customers pretty fast.
I never figured out how to get that many more followers (I don’t really like spending time on social media), but I did figure out how to grow the course.
The story continues in the next fast-forward.
