4 years into working at Salesforce I decided I wanted to try something entrepreneurial. I read this book called "The Path of Least Resistance" and it got me excited to take something from my brain and bring it to life. I just needed an idea.
I did a lot of gravel cycling in San Francisco. On a particularly hot day, well into a particularly hot ride, my buddy ran out of water. A thought crossed my mind. "Maybe there's a way to carry more water on your bike, without adding a bunch of extra water bottles in weird places." Idea? ✅
My first “company”, Velikan, was born.
I worked with a rapid prototyping firm to design a very nifty, pressurized water system (kinda like a Camelbak for your bike). Paid some cool designer friends to spin up an very spiffy brand, got all the way to paying for the prototype and then…
Covid hit.
All the manufacturers in China closed down. Radio silence.
Covid was the end of the road for Velikan, but the I’m-an-entrepreneur-now damage was done.
The story continues in the next fast-forward.
