Big Later would grow slowly, but steadily over the next year. Slowly because we didn't put a dime into marketing (all word of mouth and social), but steadily because people really enjoyed the product.
Not only did they enjoy the product, they enjoyed the format
At the outset I knew were running an experiment just as much as we were selling a course. It was an experiment in internet learning. And 1400 subscribers later, it was clear that our hypothesis had proven to be true.
Battle testing the EBC concept
In one of those cool internet moments, a person I'd been following and loosely chatting with on Twitter invited me to join a cohort-based course on... believe it or not.. online course creation. Very meta. But I can appreciate meta.
Not only that, but he asked if I'd be willing to work with him to transform his content into an EBC. I WAS indeed willing. And so we created a course from a 120 tweet mega-thread. It was an epic process.
