Backstory part 4
My ambitious target date for launching Big Later (January 1st, 2020) came and went
Also, if this is your first "fast forward" and you're like, what the heck is he talking about... you can get the first parts of the backstory here (part 1, part 2, part 3). The reason I'm telling you this is because there's a 70-second gap between when you click that fast forward link and when the next email arrives. Might as well take advantage of it!
Alright, back to the story of how we got to now...
Big Later was not live on January 1st, 2020
We wouldn't go live until August, but hey, that's what happens when you have a team of people who are all part-time, working on something that is completely new to all of them.
Between January and August we spent time refining our brand, editing content, trialing email service providers, building automations, familiarizing ourselves with this new suite of tools... and getting excited about launch (whenever that was gonna be).
Launch finally arrives
And I shit you not, the very first email we EVER sent to our list of early subscribers... was blank. Just a subject line that including a dancing guy in it (🕺 ) and nothing in the body. You can imagine the scrambling that ensued.
Luckily, no one really cared. We sent another email that included an apology and were on our merry way.
This was a friends and family launch and we gathered a TON of feedback. Feedback that would ultimately lead us down the road of building in assets like our progress tracker, a section called recommended further learning, the ability to skip weekends, and finally (nearly two years later) self-pacing.
Alright, enough of that, back to your inbox.
